Day 2

Visit to Garni Pagan Temple, Geghard Cave Monastery, Lavash Baking Master class, Symphony of Stones overnight in Yerevan

This day is truly an unforgettable one due to the diversity of experiences you will have. The first stop will be at the only preserved Pagan Temple in the whole region- Garni Pagan Temple from 1st century AD. The temple is located at the old Garni Fortress on the top of a gorge. The fortress is surrounded by a deep gorge from 2 sides. One can imagine the life of the royal family that was living at that corner of heaven as their summer residence. Truly a royal environment! On the other side of the gorge there is Khosrov Forest State Reserve that is home to numerous wild animals including Bezoar goat, Brown bear, Black vulture, Caspian snowcock, Armenian viper and Caucasian leopard. We will not encounter them, instead we will drive further to see another pearl of Armenian Architecture- Medieval Geghard Monastery complex located at the rocky gorge of Azat river. The complex is partly carved in a rock and it is believed to have healing water coming from one of the rock-cut rooms. Both the Geghard Monastery Complex and Garni Pagan Temple are included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. At lunch time there is a chance to see how the local people bake a famous Armenian bread lavash. It is traditionally baked in clay ovens fired by fruit tree wood or grapevine bushes. Lavash is very thin and it is possible to preserve this type of bread for months, even years. At the second part of the day you will drive to Azat river gorge full of basalt rock columns. Local people call this natural wonder a Symphony of Stones just because the rock formations remind us of a musical instrument organ. Truly impressive landscapes and strong natural energy will stay quite long in your memory. Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Overnight in Yerevan

The genesis of Armenian people is connected to Noah. According to a local legend Hayk- the grand grandson of Noah, is the founder of the Armenian nation.
