After we will drive further to see another pearl of Armenian Architecture- Medieval Geghard Monastery complex located at the rocky gorge of Azat river. The complex is partly carved out of a rock and it is believed to have healing water coming from one of the rock-cut rooms. It is well-recognized that one of the most famous Christian relics in the world- the Holy Spear was kept in this monastery complex from 13th to 18th century. It gave a name to the monastery- Geghard means spear in Armenian. Both Geghard Monastery Complex and Garni Pegan Temple are included at the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. At the lunch time there is possibility to see how the local people bake a famous Armenian bread lavash. It is traditionally baked at clay ovens fired by fruit tree wood or grapevine bushes. When you walk in the streets of Yerevan you immediately feel the friendly and peaceful character of Armenian people. We will walk in the city center to see the biggest square in Armenia- Republic Square that is considered to be the political center of the country.
